Jon: Where my studies have taken me

My college career began as a music major at the University of the Arts in downton Philadelphia. I began drumming at the age of 10, and it did not take long for me to become determined for a successful career in the music industry. I pursued music through various bands, ensembles, and events, hoping to increase networking opportunities and increase exposure. My decision to go to music school was based strictly on the rock and roll fantasy I so desperately hoped to live up to. The contrast between my goals and the school's corriculum was too great to keep me at the University of the Arts. I transferred to Temple my sophmore year without a clue about what I would do. I decided to focus on Communications after several semesters of teetering between ideas. Communications seemed broad enough to cover a wide range of learning opportunities. I knew I would be able to help myself as a musician by gaining knowledge in advertising, public relations, and general communications. I have certainly used the skills I have gained to promote myself as a musician as well as in everday life situations. I became interested in getting involved with various activities through the communications program. The Dublin program, for example, presented itself to me as I was walking down the halls of Annenburg. The sign jumped out at me and I knew I couldn not pass it up. I hope this trip enhances my worldview, my outlook on communications on an international level, and provides me with amazing experiences to bring back to happy hour.
